TOWSON, Md. — An auspicious debut by freshman forward Erin Bradley (Framingham, Mass./Marian) allowed Goucher to post a convincing 10-0 season-opening victory over Wilson today at Beldon Field.
Bradley contributed four goals to the win, one shy of the single-game school record. She tallied two goals in the first half, which ended with the Gophers (1-0) leading 6-0, put her team ahead 7-0 with her third goal at 54:45 and then notched her fourth goal at 75:22.
Sisley Pumilia (Chesterfield, N.H./Keene) was awarded assists on three of Bradley's four goals, plus the sophomore forward supplied the Gophers with three goals of her own — all in the first half — to finish with nine points.
Pumilia accounted for the first two goals of the contest, turning passes from Sarah Lodge (Pilesgrove, N.J./Woodstown) into goals at 13:30 and 17:23. An unassisted goal by Lodge at 41:28 put the Gophers up 5-0.
Goucher's remaining two goals were scored by Debbie Cohen (Austin, Texas/Lasa), who successfully converted a penalty kick at 60:05, and Nicole Sanfilippo (Roslyn Heights, N.Y./The Wheatley School).
The Gophers outshot the Phoenix, 47-1.
