TOWSON, Md. – Sisley Pumilia (Chesterfield, N.H./Keene) tallied her team-leading eighth goal of the season today for Goucher, but not until Stevenson struck for three goals in a span of 10:17 in the first half on the way to a 3-1 triumph over the Gophers (2-1) on Beldon Field.
Pumilia's goal at 71:26 was assisted by Nicole Sanfilippo (Roslyn Heights, N.Y./The Wheatley School) and extended her goal-scoring streak to three games.
Although the Mustangs (4-1) got off 15 shots in the opening period, they didn't get on the scoreboard until Tonia Cristino set up Heather Redding at 33:55.
Unassisted goals by Stephanie Eyler at 38:42 and Beth Novak at 44:12 provided Stevenson with a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
"Stevenson is a very solid team," said Goucher head coach Tati Korba following the contest. "I think the first 35 minutes represented the best I've seen a Goucher soccer team play in the four years I've been at the school. I'd like to get the next 10 minutes back, but I'm still pleased overall with how well we played and I think it demonstrates that the program is now moving in the right direction."
