The score didn't change for nearly 32 minutes, but at 74:27, the Wolverines drew even thanks to a goal by Kristen Griffith. When neither team managed to score over the remaining time in regulation or either of the two 10-minute overtime periods, the game was officially declared a 1-1 draw.
Gaby Davis (New York, N.Y./LaGuardia) was awarded an assist on the set piece that led to the seventh goal of Budrock's career. Davis played a free kick just outside the box on the right flank into the top of the 18-yard box, sliding it along the ground with pace. Budrock provided a one-time effort that found its way past the opposing goalkeeper and into the side netting.
Griffith's goal was assisted by Kerri Pagels.
Wesley's Chelsea Marrier, who finished with seven saves, turned away a shot by Bri Hite (Port Republic, Md./Calvert) in the 87th minute to keep the score knotted up at 1-1. She also made a save in each of the two extra sessions.
The Wolveriners (1-0-1) failed to get off a shot in the first OT, but in the second one, a shot by Janiah Moore went wide and one by Megan DeFalco was handled by Juliana Harkavy (Memphis, Tenn./Ridgeway), who went the distance in goal for Goucher. It was the senior's third save of the contest.
Up next for the Gophers (1-0-1) is a game against Rosemont at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
