September 21, 2016 - BALTIMORE, Md. – The Goucher Women's Soccer team rebounded from a tough loss on Saturday by defeating the Rosemont Ravens 6-0 on Beldon Field.
The Gophers came out strong when senior Samantha Turner received a ball from sophomore Theresa Antkowiak-Tassone down the middle to put a goal on the scoreboard less than five minutes into the first half. The Ravens held on for another 30 minutes until the Gopher's 11th shot on goal found the back of the net. Freshman Isabel Suazo slotted a ball through the Raven's back line to Turner who found the bottom left corner for her second goal of the night.
Five minutes later, Goucher found the net again when sophomores Christina Yarrish and Alexa Stewart combined for Stewart's first goal of the night. Turner finished the first half, scoring an unassisted breakaway in the 40th minute.
The second half, Goucher came out just as strong scoring another goal in the first five minutes. Senior Stephanie Budrock found Yarrish running in, who then found the side netting for her first goal of the season.
Rosemont fought back and put the Gophers under a bit of pressure in the middle of the second half. Goucher cleaned it up and Stewart secured the last goal unassisted against Rosemont's keeper in the 77th minute. Goucher outshot Rosemont 26-3, putting 16 shots on frame.
"This was a good overall win for our team tonight," said head coach Tati Korba. "We saw some things come together that we've been working on with conference right around the corner. It has been a process getting to this point, but we are ready for Juniata this weekend."
You can catch the Gophers (4-2-1) at Juniata this Saturday at 1:00 PM.
