DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Goucher College women's soccer team (5-4-2, Landmark 0-2-0) came from behind to handle Delaware Valley on the road Wednesday evening.
The game remained scoreless until the 40th minute when the Aggies found the back of the net. Calla Gibson scored for DelVal off a half-volley from eight yards out. Kylie Williams dished the ball to Gibson, earning the assist.
However, Goucher answered back one minute later when senior Bri Hite (Port Republic, Md.) hit a shot from 15 yards out to the opposite post. The game remained tied 1-1 at the intermission.
The second half was a clinic for the Gophers, who maintained possession of the ball for the majority of the time. Goucher took the lead in the 60th minute when junior Theresa Antkowiak-Tassone (Towson, Md.) beat her defender down the right side and finished for the goal from 10 yards out. She went on to double her scoring total in the 86th minute when she ripped a shot from 26 yards out following an assist from first-year Kaylie Derrickson (Lewisberry, Pa.).
Goucher held an advantage in shots (15-7), shots on goal (7-4) and corner kicks (10-1). First-year Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Md.) had three saves in the game.
The Gophers return to the pitch on Saturday when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to take on the Greyhounds of Moravian College at 1 p.m.
