WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Goucher College Women's Soccer (5-6-2, Landmark 0-4) team lost 8-2 at Landmark opponent Catholic University (8-5, Landmark 2-2) on Wednesday afternoon.
Catholic notched four goals in each half on their way to the victory. Despite the deficit, Goucher did not give up and posted two goals to avoid the shutout. The first goal came from first-year Rylee McDonnell (Estell Manor, N.J. who knocked in her first goal of the season off of a corner kick from Alyssa Hodnik (Pittsburgh, Pa.) in the 77th minute.
First-year Paula Hirshorn (Fredrick, Md.) scored the second goal for the Gophers, and her first goal of the season, in the 86th minute off of a through-ball from sophomore Isabel Suazo (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
First-year Goalkeeper Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Md.) made seven saves in 70 minutes of work and Erica Bulzomi (Syosset, N.Y.) subbed in for the final 20 minutes of action, making two saves.
The Gophers return home after four straight games on the road on Saturday, October 14th, as they host Elizabethtown College on Beldon Field.
