Charikofsky Shines, as Women's Soccer Falls at Scranton, 1-0
SCRANTON, Pa. - Sophomore goalie Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Md.) made six saves on the afternoon - five of which in the first half - to keep the Goucher College women's soccer team in it all match at Scranton on Saturday, but the host Royals were able to ride a first-half goal into a 1-0 victory in Landmark Conference action.

SCRANTON, Pa. - Sophomore goalie Christina Charikofsky (Eldersburg, Md.) made six saves on the afternoon - five of which in the first half - to keep the Goucher College women's soccer team in it all match at Scranton on Saturday, but the host Royals were able to ride a first-half goal into a 1-0 victory in Landmark Conference action.
With the defeat, Goucher fell to 3-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the Landmark Conference, while Scranton improved to 8-0-1 and 2-0 in the Landmark with the win.
In the defeat, Scranton scored the lone goal of the match in the 20th minute of action. From there, Goucher kept the host Royals off the scoreboard, thanks to Charikofsky's play in net.
Overall, Scranton held wide advantages in both shots (21-2) and corner kicks (12-3) in the contest. Sophomore Rylee McDonnell (Estel Manor, N.J.) and first-year Lily Shaffer (Lititz, Pa.) led Goucher in shots with one, apiece.
The Goucher College women's soccer team returns to action on Tuesday, as they travel to Immaculata for a non-conference road match. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
