Gophers Forge 1-1 Tie With Gettysburg in Season Lid-Lifter

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Goucher College and Gettysburg College battled to a 1-1 non-conference women's soccer tie Friday evening at Clark Field, with Carly Stevens scoring for the Gophers late in the second half.  The game was the season opener for both schools.

• Taylor Urie had the first shot of the game for Goucher (0-0-1) in the ninth minute.
• Gettysburg (0-0-1) put the first shot on goal by either team in the 36th minute that was turned aside by Goucher goalie Marissa Spacht.
• The Bullets put two more shots on goal in the final four minutes of the half but both were saved, with one by Spacht and one a team save.

• Spacht made a save on a bid by Zoe Want in the 56th minute to keep the game scoreless.
• Another Spacht save in the 63rd minute again kept the Bullets off the board.
• Just under a minute later, a deep shot from Gettysburg's Morgan Hobson glanced off a Gopher defender and in to put the hosts up 1-0.
• With just over 15 minutes remaining, Stevens bent a free kick over the Gettysburg wall from 20 yards out to the the game 1-1.
• Spacht made three saves in the final six minutes of the contest to keep the game deadlocked 1-1.

• Gettysburg held a 19-3 shot advantage for the game and had six of the game's nine corner kicks.
• Spacht stopped eight of the nine shots on target she faced, while Gettysburg counterpart Sammy Grayson did not make a save.
• Goucher is 1-0-1 against the Bullets all-time after downing them 2-0 in last season's season opener.

• Goucher plays its home opener Wednesday night, hosting Marymount (Va.) in a 7 pm game at Beldon Field.
