MADISON, N.J. - First year Goucher College goalkeeper Madison Gutierrez made seven saves as the Gophers played to their second straight 0-0 tie at Drew University in Landmark Conference women's soccer Saturday afternoon at a rainy Ranger Stadium.
Gutierrez registered her fifth shutout of the season for Goucher (3-3-7, 0-2-4 Landmark) with seven saves. She has made 13 saves without allowing a goal over the last two games, both 0-0 ties. Drew (9-5-1, 4-1-1) goalie Sarah Crowley was not forced to make a save for the shutout as the Rangers took all 17 of the game's shots. Drew also held a 6-1 lead in corner kicks.
Goucher extended its single-season program record for ties in a season and tied the previous NCAA Division III record of seven ties held by six teams, most recently Stockton in 2015. Concordia (Texas) and Albion had also posted seven ties this season entering Saturday, while six other teams had six ties on their ledger entering the day.
The Gophers have also played to four 0-0 ties this season, one shy of the NCAA Division III record of five set by Ithaca in 1989 and matched by Cal Lutheran in 2018.
Goucher is back in action Tuesday, hosting Catholic in a 7 pm Landmark Conference contest at Beldon Field.
