ASTON, Pa. - Three members of the Goucher College women's soccer team, sophomores Nora Neall and Madison Ybarra and first year Emma Boyles, each scored their first collegiate goal as the Gophers defeated Neumann University 3-2 at the Neumann Turf Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
- Goucher (1-4-1) had the game's first shot on goal as Neall had her shot stopped by Neumann (4-3) goalie Kiki Soto just over five minutes in.
- The Knights took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute as Summer Brown scored her first goal of 2024.
- With just under two minutes to go, Ybarra netted the equalizer off a restart.
- Ybarra knocked in a long left-to-right free kick from 25 yards out for her first goal.
- Just over a minute later Grace Uhler had a shot saved by Soto.
- Jordan Wood had a pair of shots early in the second half for the Gophers, while Neumann had a shot saved by Goucher goalie Madison Gutierrez.
- Boyles made it 2-1 just over seven minutes into the second stanza.
- Off a short corner, Wood played a short pass to Boyles standing outside the 18. Her shot from 22 yards out got over the head of Soto.
- Wood had a shot saved by Soto just over a minute later.
- Neumann was awarded a penalty kick in the 60th minute, but the attempt was sent high.
- Neall made it 3-1 in the 68th minute.
- Neall collected a ball in traffic and beat Soto to her left from six yards out.
- The Knights were awarded another penalty kick with just under 13 minutes left and Morghan Stiles converted to cut the lead to 3-2.
- Goucher had the final two shots of the game in the game's closing moments.
- Goucher outshot Neumann 20-10 and took three corners to the Knights' two.
- Gutierrez made a pair of saves, while Soto recorded four stops.
- Wood led the Gophers with six shots, while Neall had five.
- The win marked the first win at Goucher for first-year Gopher head coach Mike Singleton.
- Goucher extended its win streak over Neumann to five matches dating back to 2017.
