Gophers Draw With Lycoming in Landmark Opener

TOWSON, Md. - Junior Jordan Wood scored just over 10 minutes into the second half, before the Goucher College women's soccer team settled for a 1-1 tie with Lycoming College in Landmark Conference play Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Goucher (2-4-3, 0-0-1 Landmark) goalie Madison Gutierrez made her first save of the team four minutes into the contest.
- Just under a minute later Becca Maddox put a shot on goal that was saved by Lycoming (7-1-2, 0-0-1) keeper Riley Block.
- Gutierrez made two more saves in the next 10 minutes.
- Nora Neall had a shot in the 31st minute that was saved by Block.
- Gutierrez made her final save of the half with just over a minute to play.
- Just over 10 minutes into the second half, Neall sent a cross in from the right side.
- The cross was mishandled by Block, and Wood pounced and was able to knock in the loose ball to put the Gophers up 1-0.
- Haley Schafer put a shot on goal just over a minute later that Gutierrez turned aside.
- Abby Lee put a shot on frame that Block stopped with 24 minutes to go.
- In the 77th minute, Aubrey Williamson slid in a pass from the left that Julia Biedelspach knocked past Gutierrez to tie the game 1-1.
- Neal put a shot on goal with 12 minutes left.
- A shot by Schafer nearly got through with three minutes left, but Gopher defender Madison Quick knocked it away.
- The Warrors outshot Goucher 23-7 and took 12 corner kicks to the Gophers' two.
- Gutierrez made nine saves, and the Gophers were credited with a team save, while Block recorded five stops.
- Goucher and Lycoming played to a tie in the conference opener for the second straight year.
- The Gophers extended their unbeaten streak to four games (2-0-2).
- Neall led Goucher with three shots.
- Goucher steps out of conference play and wraps up its four-match homestand Wednesday night, hosting Albright at 7 pm at Beldon Field.
