BALTIMORE, MD - The Goucher College Gophers (1-3-0) traveled to face the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland University. With the 2-1 win, the Gophers earned their first win of the season.
The Gophers offense came out early against the Gators, with Madison Quick recording a shot just 38 seconds into the contest. Becca Maddox notched to early back-to-back shot attemps shortly after.
The first shot attempt for Notre Dame (MD) came at 27:08, with Nia George recording her first save. The half ended in a 1-1 tie, despite the final three shots attempts coming from the Gophers.
Notre Dame (MD) opened the second half with an early goal, following a foul from Goucher. However, this lead did not last long with Brianna Wilson scoring right after being subbed in (48:50).
The Gophers remained on attack, with Katelyn Conrad and Maddox leading the charge. They tallied four of the next five shots for the Gophers. With under a minite left, sophomore Jasmine Haskell found the back of the net off an assist from Madison Ybarra to lift the Gophers over the Gators.
Goucher outshot Notre Dame (MD) 20-6, earning nine corner kicks compared to the Gators one. George recorded two saves in the contest, earning the first win of her career.
With this win, Head Coach, Angela Amato, earned her first career win as a head coach.
The women are back in action on Tuesday, September 9th against Hood College for a 6pm kickoff.
