BALTIMORE, MD - The Goucher College Gophers (1-13 overall; 0-5 conference) hosted the Warriors of Lycoming College (14-1 overall; 4-1 conference) on Tuesday evening. The Warriors dominant second half propelled them to the 9-1 victory over the Gophers.
Lycoming controlled the early pace, earning five corners within the opening minutes and breaking through twice to take a 2-0 lead midway through the first half. The Warriors extended their advantage late in the half before Jordan Wood put Goucher on the board, scoring off the restart with an assist from Madison Ybarra.
The second belonged to Lycoming as the Warriors found the back of the next six more times, which included a stretch of four goals in four minutes. The final two goals came late in the contest, with Goucher down a man.
Lycoming outshot Goucher 34-8 and held the 13-2 advantage on corner kicks. Sophomore Nia George earned 12 saves, while senior Becca Maddox led the team with three shots.
The women travel for their next two matches, seeing action against Wilkes and Moravian, before they return home for their senior day against Elizabethtown on Saturday, October 25th at 1pm. Their final game of the season is home against Susquehanna is to recognize Breast Cancer Awareness on Tuesday, October 28th.
