September 14, 2016 - CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Washington College Shorewomen seemed to be shot out of a cannon, scoring two goals in 22 minutes. Both of Washington's goals came from sophomore forward Olivia Sabatino. Goucher got back together and grabbed hold of the first half, limiting Washington to only one shot in the last 25 minutes. Keeping a hold on the game, the Gophers scored in the opening 90 seconds of the second half off a chip by senior midfielder Stephanie Budrock, assisted off the head of sophomore forward Alexa Stewart.
Goucher kept majority of the possession in the second half, allowing only three shots against. Despite the amount of chances around the Shorewomen's 18-yard-box, the second half effort came up short for the Gophers.
“Today was a tale of two halves for us as we didn’t have our best effort in the first half," said Head Coach Tati Korba. "Washington College has a solid team and we struggled to find our game the first 45 minutes. I was happy with our effort in the second half and we did a nice job controlling the tempo of the game the last 45. We will look to rebound and put a solid 90 minutes together this Saturday against Mary Washington”.
This marks Goucher's first loss of the 2016 season. You can catch your Gophers back in action this Saturday against Mary Washington at 1:00 PM.
