SELINSGROVE, PA — Goucher produced the first-place
entry in the women's 4 x 800-meter relay tonight at the Susquehanna
Invitational.
The quartet of Marisa Long (Hampton Bays,
NY/Sachem), Rachel Boss (Keene,
NH/Keene), Britt Honbarrier (Raleigh,
NC/Ravenscroft) and Fraley Coles (The Plains,
VA/Highland School) completed the event in 10:27.19,
shaving more than 13 seconds off the indoor school record which was
set last weekend at the Frank Colden Invitational.
Goucher had another relay place third. In the 4 x 200, Amy
McLellan (Brewster, MA/Nauset Regional), Chelsea
Hauck (Stonington, CT/Stonington), Kanika Staten
(Columbia, MD/Long Reach) and Sheba Newman-Blount
(Lanham, MD/Bishop Ireton) turned in a time of 2:01.44 to
finish behind only Susquehanna and York.
Newman-Blount also placed third in an individual event as she
completed the 55-meter dash in :07.91, and broke the indoor school
record in the 200-meter run with her time of :28.79, good for
seventh place.
Long and Boss were separated by one-hundredth of a second as they
placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 800. Long crossed the
finish line in 2:36.20 and Boss in 2:36.21.
No team score scoring was maintained at the meet.
