TOWSON, MD — Goucher produced the first-place
performers in 11 of the 17 events — and its 4 x 800-meter
relay team set a new school record and established a Gopher Stadium
record — at today's Goucher Invitational.
Sheba Newman-Blount (Lanham, MD/Bishop Ireton) was
responsible for four of those event-winning efforts as she crossed
the finish line first in the 100-meter dash (:13.51), 200-meter
dash (:28.60) and 100-meter hurdles (:18.70), and also generated
the top performance in the long jump (13-feet, 11.5-inches). She
also ran a leg on the victorious 4 x 400-meter relay that turned in
a time of 4:28.38.
In the 4 x 800 event, the foursome of Marisa Long (Hampton
Bays, NY/Sachem), Fraley Coles (The Plains,
VA/Highland School), Amy McLellan (Brewster,
MA/Nauset Regional) and Rachel Boss (Keene,
NH/Keene) finished in 10:11.24.
Coles and Boss both placed first in an individual event: Coles in
the 1500-meter run (5:21.78) and Boss in the 400-meter dash
(:62.70).
Goucher's remaining first-place performances came from Becky Foner
(Cape Elizabeth, ME/Cape Elizabeth) in the 800-meter run (2:42.52),
