Stewart and Butler are Named Goucher College Athletes of the Week
Freshman Keon Butler and sophomore Lexi Stewart have been named the Goucher College Athletes of the Week following their performances last week.
TOWSON, MD – Freshman Keon Butler and sophomore Lexi Stewart have been named the Goucher College Athletes of the Week following their performances last week.
Butler aided the Goucher College men’s basketball team to its second Landmark win of the season with a career-high 18 points in the game. In addition to scoring the second-most points on the team, he chipped in with six rebounds, four assists and a steal.
Over the course of the week he averaged 15.0 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game. The Gophers went 1-1 during the week, falling to Moravian 81-74 at home on Wednesday and topping Elizabethtown 77-65 at home.
Butler and the men’s basketball team hit the road on Wednesday when they travel to Juniata to take on the Eagles at 7PM.
Stewart is being honored for her career-debut performance at the Ducharme Invitational Meet where she earned second place in the 200-meter dash (28.45) the teams highest finish of the day. She also placed seventh in the 55-meter dash (7.66) and 10th in the long jump (4.62). She aided the relay team of first-year performers Anna Gallina, Victoria Wheeler and Michell Wolisky to a fifth-place finish in the 4x200 relay (1:56.34), which is ranked as the fifth fastest time in Goucher history.
Stewart and the Gophers travel to Susquehanna next weekend before returning to the same venue the following weekend for the Landmark Conference Championships.
