Bio
Erick Camodeca joined as the Athletics Philanthropy Gift Officer in June of 2025. Prior to this, he served as the Head Coach of both the Cross Country and Track and Field Programs.
- 2024-25 marked his fourth season as the cross country head coach and his sixth season as the track and field head coach
- Has coached five Landmark Conference champions (four indoor, three outdoor)
- Has coached five Landmark Second Team and Honorable Mention performers (nine indoor, five outdoor)
- Coached back-to-back Landmark women's Indoor Rookies of the Year
(Carter Hinton-Ayodele, 2022, Tanise Thornton-Fillyaw, 2023) - Hinton-Ayodele was the 2022 indoor Field Performer of the Meet
- Hinton-Ayodele is a three-time NCAA Championship qualifier in the triple jump,
while Thornton-Fillyaw qualified in the women's 800 in both indoor and outdoor
in 2023 and 2024. - Thornton-Fillyaw finished fifth in the indoor 800 and third in the outdoor 800 at nationals
in 2024. - The Gopher women's team has been ranked as high as No. 7 in the Mid-Atlantic
Region.
- Served as the Cross Country/Track and Field Assistant Head Coach
at Eastern Mennonite in 2019-20 - Helped two athletes qualify for the NCAA Division III National Championships
for the outdoor season and one for the indoor at Eastern Mennonite - Served as the head coach at Stevenson for five seasons
- Named the 2018 MAC Coach of the Year and the Mid-East Region Head Coach
of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association - Helped Stevenson its first conference titles at the 2019 MAC indoor and
outdoor championships - Led Stevenson to the 2019 indoor title at the Eastern College Athletic Conference
- Mentored 15 national qualifiers, four All-America athletes and numerous regional
and conference of the year recipients at Stevenson - Helped athletes break 96 of the 106 indoor and outdoor record for both the men’s
and women’s track and field teams at Stevenson - Served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Loyola for the 2013-14 season
- Served as the head coach of the men’s track and field team for six years and
the women’s track and field team for three years at York - Coached 50 all-conference selections in the indoor and outdoor season including
five Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Athlete of the Year selections and
five CAC Rookie of the Year honorees - Helped six athletes qualify for nationals and three earned All-America status at York
- Aided his athletes to break 35 men’s record and 27 women records at York
- Named the CAC Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2011
- Helped York to the 2011 CAC Men’s Track and Field Outdoor title, its first since 1992
- Guided York women to a second-place finish in 2011 for its highest finish in
program history - Served as the cross country head coach at York from 2010-12
- Helped the men’s cross country team at York to back-to-back titles including
the program’s first ever crown in 2011 - Named the CAC Coach of the Year twice
- Aided three CAC Athlete of the Year selections, three Rookie of the Year honorees,
three individual champions, two NCAA qualifiers and one All-American
as the cross country coach at York - Started his coaching career as an assistant coach under the legendary
head coach John Caslin at Goucher for two seasons for both cross country
and track and field - Helped the team set four school records in track and field, sent one women's
cross country runner to nationals (J. Fraley Coles) and had one All-CAC
second team selection
- Graduated from Goucher in 2006
- Earned All-CAC first team honors for the 400-meter relay team with a
school record time in 2007 (the record was then broken while he was
serving as an assistant coach at his alma mater) - Helped the 4x200-meter relay and the medley relay teams set school
record for the outdoor and indoor seasons - Scored in 18 of the 21 CAC championship events he competed
- Served as a track and field team captain and also played on the
men’s soccer team - Served as the vice president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
