TOWSON, MD – Sam Davis ’15 and Morgan Richter ’16 have been named to the Landmark Conference 10th Anniversary All-Decade team in the sport of Men’s Swimming and Diving.
The 2016-17 season marks the 10th year anniversary for the Landmark Conference. To help celebrate, the Landmark featured individuals that have stood out over the past 10 years.
Davis is being honored following a successful career at Goucher College, winning two Landmark Conference championships in 2015. The sprint freestyle specialist turned in first-place finishes in the 50 free (21.57) and the 100 free (46.55) during the 2015 championships where the Gophers finished 6th overall.
In addition to his stellar performance at Landmark Championships, Davis currently holds individual Goucher College men’s swimming & diving records in the 50 free (20.69) and 100 free (46.55).
Richter was also a major catalyst for the Gophers during the 2015 Landmark Championships during his junior year. However, at that point, it had just become the norm for the record-setting swimmer.
His first-of-nine individual championships came in 2013 when he took home gold in the 100 fly – a feat he would repeat all four years at Goucher. In 2014, he began his reign over the 200 fly, winning the individual championship three times from 2014-2016. He is also a two-time Landmark Champion in the 500 free (2015 and 2016).
Richter currently holds six individual records at Goucher. His records include the 200 free (1:45.80), 500 free (4:38.44), 1000 free (10:07.57), 1650 free (17:01.27), 100 fly (50.25) and 200 fly (1:51.30).
Davis and Richter also hold records as members of the 200 free relay (1:26.31), 400 free relay (3:09.21), 800 free relay (7:16.48), 200 medley relay (1:34.26) and 400 medley relay (3:28.97). All-in-all the two combine for 13 school records and 11 Landmark Conference individual championships.
The All-Decade team was selected by the membership of the Landmark Conference and is announced prior to the conference championship. Athletes that were named All-Conference First Team a minimum of two times, and/or were named Landmark Player of the Year, during their career were nominated automatically, and each team had the opportunity to nominate additional individuals for consideration.
