Landmark Conference Names Four Gophers to Men's Lacrosse All-Decade Team
Justin Dunn ’11, Kyle Boncaro ’12, Matt Lynch ’12 and Connor Mishaw ’13 have been named to the Landmark Conference Men’s Lacrosse All-Decade team, celebrating their success while wearing Goucher College blue and gold.
TOWSON, Md. – Justin Dunn ’11, Kyle Boncaro ’12, Matt Lynch ’12 and Connor Mishaw ’13 have been named to the Landmark Conference Men’s Lacrosse All-Decade team, celebrating their success while wearing Goucher College blue and gold.
This group accounts for nine Landmark Conference records, nine Goucher College records, 11 All-Landmark Conference First Team selections, seven USILA All-American selections, a CoSida Academic All-District First Team Selection and a CoSida Academic All-American Third Team selection. In all, they played in five Landmark Conference tournaments, winning twice in 2010 and 2012. They made three NCAA tournament game appearances, advancing to the NCAA second round in 2012.
Justin Dunn was a converted attackman that switched to defense during his sophomore campaign. In just three years he dominated the league and marched his way into the Goucher College record book. His records in single game caused turnovers (seven – a feat he completed four times), season caused turnovers (59) and career caused turnovers (140) still stand as benchmarks at Goucher today.
He was a three-time All-Landmark Conference First Team selection and USILA All-American honorable mention in 2010 and 2011. Dunn is to be inducted into the Goucher College Athletics Hall of Fame on April 28th, 2017 at 6 p.m.
Kyle Boncaro is one of the most lethal stick handlers in the history of the Landmark Conference, holding season records for both goals (58) and points (86) in 2012. He is still the Landmark Conference career record holder in assists (119), points (273), assists per game (1.70) and games started (70).
He currently sits second all-time in goals in both the Landmark Conference and at Goucher with 154 total goals. In his career, he also managed 164 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers. He was a three-time All-Landmark Conference First Team selection (2009, 2010, and 2012) and Second Team selection in 2011. He was named the Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year in 2009 and earned USILA All-American honorable mention status in 2012.
When Matt Lynch had the ball, defenders had difficulty knowing what he would do - snipe it to the back of the net or dish it off to a teammate. In 2012, he set a Landmark Conference record with 39 assists, a mark that still stands today.
In regards to his career in the Landmark, Lynch is second in assists (103), second is assists per game (1.47) and third in points (220). He was a three-time All-Landmark Conference First Team honoree and a two-time USILA All-American honorable mention. In 2012 he was named to the USILA All-American Third Team, CoSida Academic All-American Third Team and CoSida Academic All-District First Team.
At Goucher he holds the record for season assists (39 in 2012) while he sits second in career assists (103) and fourth in points (220). In all, he scored 117 goals, dished out 103 assists, collected 198 ground balls and caused 35 turnovers.
What the other three players on this list meant to the defense, attack and midfield, Connor Mishaw meant between the pipes at Goucher. He is the Landmark Conference record holder in season goals against average (5.58 in 2012) and career saves (600). In addition to the conference level, Mishaw holds the Goucher season goals against average (5.58) record as well as sitting third in career saves percentage (.609), third in career goals against (7.31) and fourth in career saves (600).
He was named to the Landmark Conference First Team in 2012 and 2013. Additionally, the USILA recognized him as an All-American honorable mention in 2013.
The All-Decade team was selected by the membership of the Landmark Conference and is announced prior to the conference championship. Athletes that were named All-Conference First Team a minimum of two times, and/or were named Landmark Player of the Year, during their career were nominated automatically, and each team had the opportunity to nominate additional individuals for consideration.
