Women's Tennis Named ITA 2017 All-Academic Team
The Goucher College women’s tennis team was recognized as a 2017 All-Academic Team while seven student-athletes were named 2017 Scholar Athletes.
TOWSON, Md. – The Goucher College women's tennis team was recognized as a 2017 All-Academic Team while seven student-athletes were named 2017 Scholar Athletes.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2016 and spring 2017).
The five student-athletes representing Goucher College at 2017 Scholar Athletes are:
Meera Balasubramanian (Bel Air, Md./Oldfields School)
Miranda Egan-Brooks (Brooklyn, N.Y./Bard High School Early College)
Alice Goldstein-Plesser (Durham, N.C./Durham School of the Arts)
Katie Mazerka (Wolfeboro, N.H./Kingwood Regional)
Mandile Mpofu (Harare, Zimbabwe/Arundel School)
Leigh Oehrig (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg)
Ali Tomasevich (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton)
In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
The Gophers posted a 5-11 record and 2-5 record in the Landmark Conference, defeating Susquehanna, 8-1, in the Landmark opener and Juniata, 5-4, to close out the 2017 season.
