Brad Mountcastle Joins Goucher College As Head Athletic Trainer
BALTIMORE, Md. – Brad Mountcastle has joined the Goucher College athletic department as the Head Athletic Trainer.
Mountcastle comes to Goucher with over 20 years of athletic training experience, including working with US Lacrosse and the National Football League (NFL).
"I am thrilled to be joining Goucher Athletics and the Goucher community," said Mountcastle. "With all of our teams coming back to campus and starting to practice and compete, it is a special time to be here. The student-athletes, coaches, and staff throughout campus have been so welcoming and have made me feel right at home. I am excited to help support them and help them build on their success."
Mountcastle was the director of sports medicine for LifeBridge Health in 2020, serving as the sports medicine administrative liaison for Loyola University of Maryland.
He served as the head athletic trainer for US Lacrosse from 2012-2018. He worked the 2014 and 2018 World Championships for the men's senior national lacrosse team.
Since 2015, Mountcastle has served as an athletic trainer spotter for the NFL. He works with the league office, league officials, and medical staff of both home and visiting teams to help identify injuries that occur during an NFL game. He serves as the primary ATC spotter for the NFL at M&T Bank Stadium.
Mountcastle got his start in athletic training at nearby Johns Hopkins University as a graduate assistant in 1999 and continued working with the Blue Jays athletic department until 2018. He held several titles during his time with Johns Hopkins, including assistant athletic trainer, head athletic trainer, athletics healthcare administrator, and director of sports performance and wellness. Also, he created a sports medicine program that encompasses all areas of sports performance and student-athlete wellness.
Mountcastle received his bachelor's degree from McDaniel College in 1997 and earned his master's degree from Towson University in 2001.
