Goucher Athletics to Kick Off NCAA Division III Week with a Lip Sync Battle for a Cause
Goucher College Athletics is gearing up for an exciting start to NCAA Division III Week with its inaugural Lip Sync Battle, set to take place on Monday, April 7, at 8:00 PM in the Decker Sports & Recreation Center Arena. This event will not only showcase the energy and creativity of Goucher's athletic teams but will also support a great cause—benefiting Special Olympics.
A Night of Fun, Camaraderie, and Purpose
Goucher's student-athletes will take stage as they compete in a spirited lip sync showdown. Each athletics team has selected a song and will bring their A-game to entertain the audience in a night filled with music, laughter, and school spirit. While the Lip Sync Battle promises plenty of fun, its underlying mission makes it even more special: raising awareness and support for Special Olympics.
After all the team performances conclude, our panel of judges—Dr. Camp, Vice President of Student Affairs; Dr. Turner, Director, Office of Residential Life; Roy Belfield, Associate Professor of Music; and Kris Lytle, Athletic Trainer—will take time to deliberate their winner. During that time, everyone in attendance and watching via the stream will be encouraged to help us see how much money we can raise for Special Olympics in just one minute. NCAA Division III Week is a national celebration recognizing the impact of Division III athletics on student-athletes and the broader college community. This week-long initiative highlights the balance of academic success, athletic achievement, and community engagement that defines the Division III experience.
Each year, Division III institutions participate in outreach activities that emphasize academic accomplishment, athletic excellence, leadership, community service, and campus involvement. Goucher Athletics' Lip Sync Battle embodies these values by bringing students together for a lively event that fosters team spirit while making a positive difference beyond the playing surface.
