Gophers Come Up One Goal Short Against Mighty Macs
IMMACULATA, Pa. — Goucher still had more than 20 minutes to work with after Justine Ruhlin tallied her third goal of the season, trimming a 2-0 deficit against Immaculata down to a single goal this afternoon.

IMMACULATA, Pa. — Goucher still had more than 20 minutes to work with after Justine Ruhlin tallied her third goal of the season, trimming a 2-0 deficit against Immaculata down to a single goal this afternoon.
In the time remaining, the Gophers managed to get off four shots, three of which went wide. They had one final chance to come up with the equalizer in the closing seconds when they were awarded a penalty corner. Although the play did lead to a shot by Lizzie Barminski, a defender was able to block the attempt and preserve a 2-1 victory for the Mighty Macs.
Barmisnki accounted for six of Goucher's final total of 11 shots.
Immaculata bunched both of its goals into the opening period. The first was scored following a penalty corner by Tiffany Lockfeld in the 14th minute of play and the second by Patsy Murphy with 3:06 remaining before halftime.
Danielle Hallacker was awarded an assist on Ruhlin's goal.
The Mighty Macs (1-1) finished with 16 shots. Demie Huffman played all 70 minutes in goal for Goucher and was credited with eight saves.
The next game for the Gophers (0-3) will be their home opener against Stevenson on September 10 at 7 p.m.
