Field Hockey Earns NFHCA Team Academic Award; Hooper, Klock Named Scholars of Distinction
GILBERT, Ariz. - The Goucher College field hockey team was honored for their work in the classroom recently, as the Gophers earned a 2017 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team of Distinction award from the organization.
GILBERT, Ariz. - The Goucher College field hockey team was honored for their work in the classroom recently, as the Gophers earned a 2017-18 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team of Distinction award from the organization.
Individually, meanwhile, first-year Ariana Hooper (San Diego, Calif.) and junior Sam Klock (Leesburg, Va.) were named ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III Scholars of Distinction recipients for 2017-18 for their exemplary work in the classroom.
As a team, Goucher joins 132 other NCAA Division III programs to earn the Team Academic Award. The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes those programs that earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall Semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
During the Fall Semester, the Gophers field hockey team had a cumulative GPA of 3.25.
Hooper and Klock, meanwhile, are two of just 242 student-athletes nationally to earn the Scholar of Distinction honor. The Division III National Academic Team Award recognizes those programs that earned a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall Semester of the 2017-18 academic year.
Hooper, who is undecided on a major at Goucher, posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average in her first semester on-campus. Klock, meanwhile, has a cumulative GPA of 3.94 as a Psychology major at Goucher.
