Devin Brashear Named Landmark Conference Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week
After an outstanding performance in an upset victory over Elizabethtown on Saturday, first-year goalie Devin Brashear (Escondido, Calif.) of the Goucher College field hockey team was named the Landmark Conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week for the period ending Oct. 21, 2018 on Monday afternoon.
After an outstanding performance in an upset victory over Elizabethtown on Saturday, first-year goalie Devin Brashear (Escondido, Calif.) of the Goucher College field hockey team was named the Landmark Conference's Defensive Athlete of the Week for the period ending Oct. 21, 2018 on Monday afternoon.
This marks the first time in Brashear's short Goucher career that she has been named the Landmark Defensive Athlete of the Week, as well.
On Saturday, Brashear made six saves (three in the first half and three in the second) in a 2-1 overtime victory for the Gophers over Elizabethtown, a team that had previously been undefeated in conference action. Brashear and the rest of the Goucher defense also kept the visiting Blue Jays off the scoreboard for over 62 minutes in the victory, as well.
For the season, Brashear has been outstanding in net for the Gophers in her first year in the program. Overall, she has made 76 saves, posting a saves percentage of .760. With a goals against average of 1.81, Brashear has also posted two shutouts throughout the year, as well.
The Goucher College field hockey team returns to action on Thursday, hosting Wilson in the squad's 2018 regular season home finale. The contest starts at 7 p.m.
