Johnson Named Landmark Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player Of The Week
BALTIMORE, Md. – Danielle Johnson (Salisbury, Md./Parkside), a member of the Goucher College field hockey team, has been named the Landmark Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 2-8. It is Johnson's first conference honor while a Gopher has been recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week for the second-straight week.
Johnson posted five goals and two assists for 12 points in a pair of 8-0 wins over the weekend. The senior tallied her first collegiate hat trick and added an assist against Southern Virginia University on Saturday including have a hand in two of the first three goals with a tally and an assist. She then added two goals and an assist in the victory against Ferrum on Sunday.
The senior leads the team with six goals and two assists for 14 points and leads the conference in both goals and points. She has seven goals and three assists for 17 points in her career with all of her points coming in the last two seasons.
Johnson becomes the fifth offensive player of the week for Goucher since joining the Landmark Conference and marks the second-straight week the squad has garnered the honor after Ari Hooper (San Diego, Calif./Poway) took home the honor last week. The Gophers have had five offensive awards and six defensive awards since the inception of the league.
Johnson has helped the team start the season 3-1 for the first time since 2014 and for the fourth time since joining the Landmark Conference.
