ASHLAND, Va. – The Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) tour stop at Randolph-Macon College had a hitch for Goucher College in non-conference field hockey action on Saturday.
Starting with Sunday's 8-0 win at Ferrum College, the Gophers began a stretch of playing four ODAC schools in the next five matches. The squad will host Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday and travel to Eastern Mennonite on Sept. 24 to wrap up the four matches against the Virginia conference with only a home game against Lebanon Valley on Sept. 21 being the only non-ODAC program during the 17 day stretch.
Devin Brashear (Escondido, Calif./San Pasqual) made a season-high 10 saves and reached double figures in stops for the third time in her career.
Ari Hooper (San Diego, Calif./Poway and Caroline Doll (York, Pa./Dallastown Area) each had a shot in the first quarter with Doll's shot being the only one on goal for Goucher on the afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets scored once in each of the first two quarters to take a 2-0 lead at the intermission and then registered two tallies in each of the third and fourth quarters for a 6-0 win and end the Gophers three-game winning streak.
Goucher returns to Beldon Field on Wednesday against Virginia Wesleyan. Match time is 7 p.m.
