BALTIMORE, Md. – Ari Hooper (San Diego, Calif./Poway) and Mia Wiggins (San Diego, Calif./University City) both scored twice to propel Goucher College past Hood College 6-0 in non-conference field hockey action on Tuesday.
Hooper got the scoring started at 4:13 in the first quarter and then put the exclamation point on the win with the final tally at 49:55 in the fourth stanza off a pass from Madi Relsome (San Diego, Calif./Del Norte). The junior also assisted on Wiggins first score of the night at 33:51 while Meghan Oakes (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) dished out the helper on Wiggins second marker at 38:34.
Hooper now leads the team with nine goals and six assists for 24 points. The junior has registered a point in all seven wins for the Gophers this season. Wiggins has six tallies and five assist for 17 points.
Along with assisting Hooper's first goal, Oakes found the twine herself at 31:51 unassisted and now has five markers and three helpers for 13 points on the year.
While Hooper, Wiggins and Oakes have scored a goal in their careers, Amita Chatterjee (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) joined the club with her first collegiate goal at the 7:15 mark in the first half off a Danielle Johnson (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) feeder. She now has a goal and an assist for three points.
The Goucher defense did not allow a shot on the evening.
The Gophers return to action on Saturday at Juniata College. Match time is 1 p.m.
