Field Hockey All-Decade Team Announced
BALTIMORE, Md. – After 444 votes since Monday, Goucher Athletics has announced the Field Hockey All-Decade Team. We would like to thank you everyone that voted! Congratulations to the members of the 2010s Goucher College Field Hockey All-Decade Team.
FORWARDS: Jackie Juarez, Maya Belin, Justine Ruhlin
MIDFIELDERS: Lizzie Barminski, Ari Hooper, Annie Carter, Kristen Shklanko
DEFENSE: Danielle Hallacker, Sarah Cost, Sarah Shklanko
GOALKEEPER: Demie Huffman
To be eligible for the All-Decade Team team, a student-athlete must have competed for at least one season between the 2010 and 2019 seasons. They also must be a graduate or still enrolled at Goucher College. In addition, only the statistics during the years of 2010 and 2019 are eligible so statistics that occur before the year 2010 or after the year 2019 do not count toward the All-Decade team vote.

FORWARDS
Juarez, a Glendora, Calif., native, appeared in 62 games and started 58 contests from 2015-18 for the Gophers. She posted 24 goals and 14 assists for 62 points. She registered 10 tallies in her senior year including the game-winning goal in the 73rd minute in overtime against Elizabethtown in her final game at Beldon Field.
Belin, a Baltimore, Md., native, appeared in 42 games with 25 starts from 2016 to 2018 for the squad. She registered 25 goals and seven assists in her career. She also saved her best season for her last, registering 12 markers and five assists for 29 points to earn All-Landmark Conference second team honors. Belin served as an assistant coach in 2019 and is currently working on her Master's Degree at Goucher.
Ruhlin, a Cornish, Maine, native, appeared and started 65 games from 2011 to 2014 in her career in Baltimore. She notched the most goals in the decade for the Gophers with 35 cage hitters along with nine assists for 79 points. After scoring 10 goals in her first two seasons, she tallied 12 markers in her junior campaign and 13 goals in her senior year. She was awarded for her efforts as a senior with an All-Landmark Conference second-team nod.
MIDFIELDERS
We start the midfielders with the most decorated field hockey player in the decade and since the Gophers joined the Landmark Conference. Barminski, a Venture, Calif., native, was the 2013 Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year and took home first-team honors in 2015 and second-team recognition in 2014 and 2016. She appeared in 64 games and ran on for field for the starting lineup 62 times in her career. Barminski registered 26 goals and 19 assists for 71 points with her best season coming in her junior year when she registered 12 markers and four helpers for 28 points.
Hooper, a San Diego, Calif., native is entering her senior campaign in 2020-21 after having the best season of her career in a Goucher uniform. She registered 10 goals and six assists for 26 points in 2019 to earn All-Landmark Conference second-team honors. Hooper has appeared in 47 games in her career with 31 starts and has accumulated 13 goals and 10 assists for 36 points in her three seasons during the decade.
Carter, an Ann Arbor, Mich., native, started all 66 games she played in her career from 2013 to 2016. She registered 13 goals and 17 assists (the second-most assists in the decade) for 43 points in her career. Carter notched her best scoring season as a junior with eight goals and four assists for 20 points.
Kristen Shklanko, a Huntington Beach, Calif., native, started all but one of the games she played from 2014 to 2017 in her career. She registered nine markers and 12 helpers for 30 points in her career. She had her best offensive season in her junior campaign with four goals and four assists for 12 points while she was recognized by the league with a second-team nod as a senior.
DEFENSE
Hallacker, a Freehold, N.J., native, appeared in 59 games in her career and started 58 from 2013 to 2016 for the Gophers defense. She recorded two assists and four defensive saves in her time with the Blue and Gold. She was named to the All-Landmark Conference second team in her junior season.
Cost, a Waterboro, Maine, native, appeared in 55 games and started 53 contests from 2013 to 2016. She registered six defensive saves including four defensive saves in her senior campaign.
Sarah Shklanko, a Huntington Beach, Calif., native, started 48 games for the Gophers from 2015 to 2017. She registered four goals and one assist for nine points along with seven defensive saves in her career. She was named to the All-Landmark Conference second team in 2016 and to the first team in 2017.
GOALKEEPER
Huffman, a Granville, Ohio native, appeared in 56 games in between the pipes for the Blue & Gold from 2012 to 2015. She registered 338 saves, a 74.8 save percentage and 24 wins in 3622:46 minutes. She registered a career-best 115 saves in 2013 and helped Goucher to a 17-11-1 record in her final two seasons.
