Gophers Edged by Drew on Senior Day

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College field hockey team was edged 1-0 by Drew University Saturday afternoon at a rainy Beldon Field. Prior to Saturday's game, the Gophers honored lone senior Daryn Carter.
- Goucher's (7-7, 1-6 Landmark) Kaitlyn Bucci had the first shot of the game two minutes in that was saved by Drew (6-8, 2-4) goalie Olyvia Jackson.
- The Gophers generated a penalty corner three minutes later.
- The Rangers had four shots the rest of the quarter, three on goal, all three of which were stopped by Gopher goalie Katie Bloom.
- Bloom made a pair of saves two minutes into the second quarter.
- Drew had one more shot the remainder of the period that went wide.
- The guests held an 11-1 shot advantage in the first 30 minutes.
- Madison Usher sent a shot wide five minutes into the second half.
- Less than a minute later Bucci had a shot blocked.
- Goucher held the Rangers without a shot in the third period.
- On a penalty corner 43 seconds into the final period, Alexa Thomas scored to make it 1-0.
- Bucci had a shot with just over 10 minutes to go that was saved by Jackson.
- Another shot by Bucci went wide with four minutes to play.
- Goucher outshot Drew 4-2 in the second half but the Rangers held a 13-5 advantage for the game.
- Drew took seven penalty corners to Goucher's three.
- Bloom made seven saves in defeat for the Gophers, while Jackson made a pair of stops en route to the shutout.
- Carter, Goucher's lone senior, has appeared in and started 42 games over her three seasons.
- Goucher closes out its home slate Wednesday night, hosting Catholic in a 6 pm Landmark Conference matchup at Beldon Field.
