HARRISONBURG, Va. - Senior Kaitlyn Bucci scored twice as the Goucher College field hockey team posted its second straight win, blanking Eastern Mennonite 3-0 on the road Wednesday night.
Bucci scored her first goal of the game 5:46 in to give the Gophers (2-1) a 1-0 lead. In the second quarter, first year Annie Bennett registered her second goal of the season to put the Gophers up 2-0. Goucher took a 2-0 lead over EMU (0-3) into halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, Bucci scored her second goal of the game just over four minutes into the fourth.
Goucher outshot the Royals 25-5 as it posted its second straight win over Eastern Mennonite. Sophomore Katie Bloom started in goal for the Gophers and was not forced to make a save over the first three quarters. First year Mimi Taff registered a pair of saves over the final 15 minutes to preserve the shutout.
Goucher is set to host Southern Virginia for its home opener on Saturday, September 7 at 4 pm at Beldon Field.
