Gophers Run Win Streak to Four, Shut Out LBC

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College field hockey team broke through with a pair of second half goals as it downed Lancaster Bible College 2-0 Wednesday evening at Beldon Field for its fourth straight victory.
- Goucher (4-1) had the game's first shot 2:23 in as a shot by Annie Bennett was saved by Charger (1-3) goalie Amanda Hoover.
- The Gophers outshot Lancaster Bible 6-1 in the opening frame.
- Kaitlyn Bucci had a shot saved by Hoover just over a minute into the second quarter.
- Goucher goalie Katie Bloom made a save on a Mira Rineer shot midway through the period.
- Despite a 15-4 shot advantage for the hosts, the game remained scoreless at the break.
- Bucci had another shot turned aside four minutes into the second half.
- The Gophers put five more shots on frame that Hoover saved before Julia Blondell scored on a scrum in front of the goal to get Goucher on the board at the 40:39 mark.
- Just over four minutes into the second half, Angelena Holmes sent a shot off the crossbar.
- Madison Usher collected the rebound and slipped it over to Annie Bennett at the far left post. Bennett knocked it home to make it 2-0.
- Goucher put three more shots on goal, all turned aside by Hoover.
- Goucher outshot Lancaster Bible 34-4 and took 14 penalty corners to the Chargers' one.
- Hoover recorded 15 saves, while Bloom made one stop en route to Goucher's third straight shutout.
- The Gophers' four-game win streak is their longest since starting 2023 4-0.
- Goucher had shut out three straight opponents for the first time since September 1-8, 2019.
