TOWSON, Md. - The visiting University of Scranton field hockey team sealed a victory with three goals in the fourth quarter as it downed Goucher College 6-1 in Landmark Conference play Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
- Scranton (12-2, 3-1 Landmark) took a 1-0 lead 5:48 into the game on a Katie Redding goal.
- Goucher (6-7, 1-3) goalie Katie Bloom made her first save of the afternoon with 3:25 to play.
- In the final minute of the first a deep shot by Zoe Mikles was saved by Scranton goalie Julie Rogel.
- The Royals made it 2-0 5:47 into the second on a Bridget Abraldes tally.
- Bloom made a pair of saves in the quarter, the last coming 14 seconds before halftime.
- The Gophers cut the lead to 2-1 midway through the period on a goal off a penalty corner.
- Camden West tipped home a pass by Annie Bennett down low for her first goal of the season.
- Just over a minute later Bloom recorded back-to-back saves.
- Bloom had three more saves before Scranton made it 3-1 in the 42nd minute on another Abraldes goal.
- The Royals generated four more penalty corners the rest of the period.
- Just under two minutes into the fourth Scranton extended its lead on Elle Collins's goal.
- The Royals added two goals 1:05 apart to make it 6-1 with 5:39 to go.
- West and Kaitlyn Bucci had shots on goal on a penalty corner a minute later, with both stopped by Royal relief keeper Gianna Travia.
- The Gophers generated two more corners in the final four minutes of the game.
- Scranton took 33 shots and 15 corners to the Gophers' seven shots and four corners.
- Bloom made 12 saves before being relieved by Mimi Taff for the final 6:44. Taff made one save and allowed one goal.
