LEXINGTON, Va. – Freshman Josh Lichti (Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) moved to Goucher College for his freshman year, but he has spent more time in his home state to start the season with the team playing its fourth road game of the season in the Old Dominion State. This trip to the Virginia Military Institute was different because due to NCAA rules the game against the NCAA Division I Keydets only counted as an exhibition for the Gophers, but Lichti would have the shortest trip home for the holiday break.
Lichti posted nine points against VMI to lead the team. The nine points would sit third most in his career after registering a career-high at Christendom on November 13 and 11 points in his collegiate debut at Valley Forge on November 8.
Josh Carter (Beltsville, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) added five points and what would have been a career-high nine rebounds while Axel Seka (Frederick, Md./Urbana) chipped in six points off the bench.
The Keydets used a 45-20 first half and a 53-12 second half to earn their third win of the season and second against an NCAA Division III opponent.
Goucher will play another exhibition game at William & Mary College on December 15, but first will have a two-game home stand starting with Gwynedd Mercy on Monday in a game that the stats will count and the outcome will be recorded in the record. Game time is 7 p.m.
