Goucher Men's Basketball Can't Hold Off Susquehanna After Strong Start To The Game
SELINGROVE, Pa. – Goucher College held a 12-point lead at halftime, but Susquehanna University had a strong second half to rally past the Gophers in Landmark Conference men's basketball action on Saturday.
Cam Isaacs (Randallstown, Md./Randallstown) paced Goucher with 18 points after shooting 7-for-12 from the floor and 4 of 8 from behind the arc. The sophomore has scored double figures in five-straight games including three games with 16 points or more. Isaacs is averaging 14.8 points per game in his last five tilts and has registered nine double-figure point games in 2019-20 and 19 in his career.
Dwayne Morton (Baltimore, Md./Waynesville [Mo.]) narrowly missed his first collegiate double-double, finishing with 15 points and a career-high nine rebounds. The senior, who has scored 85 points in his last three games, shot 6-for-10 from the field and 3 of 5 from 3-point land. With his 15 points, Morton has moved into 11th place on the program's all-time career point list with 944 points and can move into the Top-10 with 35 points. The senior has recorded 44 career games with 10 points or more.
Pat Goralski (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) notched his second double-double of the season and fourth of his career after posting 10 points and 12 rebounds. The senior shot well in the game after connecting on 4 of his 7 shots from the floor and 2 of 2 from the free throw line. He has six double-figure point games this season and 17 in his career.
Timmy O'Farrell (Davidsonville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) chipped in 12 points. The junior has two 10+ games in his last four games and six in his career.
Goucher jumped out to a hot start in the first seven minutes and 29 seconds thanks to a 26-4 run. Isaacs powered the run, posting 11 of his 18 points during this stretch.
Morton gave the Gophers a 36-16 lead with 5:58 left in the first half, but the River Hawks closed the half on a 13-5 run to go into the locker room trailing 41-29.
Susquehanna continued its run in the second half, starting the frame on a 14-2 spurt in the first four minutes and 47 seconds of the stanza.
Morton gave the visitors the lead for the final time on a layup with 15:11 remaining at 45-43. The senior also tied the tilt for the last time with a basket in the paint at 57 with 10:25 on the clock.
The River Hawks closed the game on a 30-10 run to earn the 87-67 victory to end the Baltimore program's two-game winning streak.
Goucher returns to action at home against Elizabethtown on Wednesday. Game time is 7 p.m.
