Goucher Men's Basketball Toppled At Moravian
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Goucher College held the lead for most of the first, but the final four minutes of the opening half and the start of the second half helps Moravian College to a Landmark Conference men's basketball win on Saturday.
Darrell Collins (Baltimore, Md./Newtown) notched his second-straight 10-point game with his 11 points. The freshman now has three double-figure point games in his last six contests.
Pat Goralski (Pasadena, Md./Chesapeake) added 10 points in the second half after being riddled with foul trouble in the game. It is his eighth double-digit point performance this season and 19th of his career.
Fueled by six points by Mal Graham (Grasonville, Md./Kent Island), Goucher jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game.
After Moravian tied the game at 8, Cam Isaacs (Randallstown, Md./Randallstown) had a basket and Timmy O'Farrell (Davidsonville, Md./Archbishop Spalding) posted a traditional 3-point play to hand the Gophers a 13-8 advantage in the first eight minutes of the contest.
After Josh Lichti (Harrisionburg, Va./Harrisonburg) extended the lead to five points again at 17-12 with 9:02 on the clock, the Greyhounds came back to then traded the lead with Goucher until the four-minute mark.
Collins gave the Gophers a 27-26 edge with 3:57 left, but Moravian closed the half by scoring nine of the final 13 points to take a 35-31 lead going into the locker room.
Dwayne Morton (Baltimore, Md./Waynesville [Mo.]) finished with eight points to move into 10th place in program history with 983 points, passing Mike Doyle (975, 1995-99). The senior will go into his next game needing 17 points to become the 10th player in program history to reach 1,000 points.
Ryan Conde (Ewing, N.J./Solebury School [Arcadia]), who made his Goucher debut, scored his first collegiate points in the game and finished with nine points. Conde is a transfer from Arcadia University. He appeared in two games for the Knights before transferring to Goucher for the second semester. In addition Nieko White (Churchton, Md./Southern) made his 2019-20 debut and had two points in four minutes
The Greyhounds started the second half on 22-5 run and never looked back en route to a 79-63 victory. The Gophers did have a 17-9 run late in the second half to cut the margin to 12 points thanks to six points apiece from Goralski and Morton.
Goucher returns to action on Wednesday when the team concludes its three-game road trip at the Catholic University of America. Game time is 7 p.m.
