Goucher Men's Basketball To Be Featured On Baltimore's Fox 45 Sports Unlimited On Sunday Night
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Goucher men's basketball team will be featured on Fox 45 and its sports program Sports Unlimited during its 10:35 p.m. show on Sunday. The segment is scheduled to run at approximately 10:45 p.m.
Sports anchor Morgan Adsits came out to a Gopher men's basketball practice on February 6 to talk with assistant coach Sydney Hines about being a woman serving as a men's basketball assistant coach. Head coach Tom Rose, April Rose, who was the first Goucher women's basketball assistant coach, Cam Isaacs (Randallstown, Md./Randallstown) and Dwayne Morton (Baltimore, Md./Waynesville [Mo.]) were also interviewed by Adsits.
Hines became the third female to serve as a men's basketball coach in the state of Maryland, joining Rose and Stephanie Ready at Coppin State (1999-01). She is the 11th known female to serve as an assistant coach on a men's basketball staff dating back to the first female men's basketball assistant coach in 1989-90 and 15th woman that has served on a men's basketball staff as either an assistant coach, director of basketball operations or special assistant to the head coach.
Hines, an Owings Mills, Maryland, native, came to Goucher after a four-year career on the women's basketball team at Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Conn. She amassed 439 points, 116 rebounds, 84 assists and 41 steals in 97 games including nine starts. Hines had 12 double-figure point games in her career including a career-high 19 points against Fairleigh Dickinson in her junior campaign and 14 points against Seton Hall as a sophomore.
Hines arrived at Central Connecticut State after a standout four-year career at New Town High School in Owings Mills where she left as the all-time leading scorer with 1,835 career points and was selected to the all-county and all-conference first team while earning all-metro second-team honors in her senior campaign.
If you are unable to see the segment on Goucher men's basketball, Fox 45 will post the segment on its website after the show or early on Monday morning. Goucher athletics will share the video on Facebook and Twitter when it becomes available.
Goucher concludes its home schedule against Catholic University of America on Wednesday.
