Goucher Athletics Announces Senior Performance Of The Year
BALTIMORE, Md. – Dwayne Morton (Baltimore, Md./Waynesville [Mo.]) a member of the Goucher College men's basketball team, has been awarded the Senior Performance of the Year after winning Goucher Athletics popular vote through the website, Facebook and Twitter.
Morton won the prize thanks to an overwhelming output of website votes to earn 35.3 percent of the vote.
Morton had his breakout performance after the holiday break when he went off for a career-high 37 points in a 96-90 win against Cairn on December 30. The 37 points were the second most points scored since Goucher joined the Landmark Conference and the fifth most in program history.
Equestrian's Anna Wright (New Hope, Pa./New Hope Solebury) finished second in the vote with 13.1 percent of the vote. Shannon Stull (Westminster, Md./Francis Scott Key) notched the most votes in any category to win the social media vote, but finished third with 11.5 percent of the vote. Virginia Estes (Homewood, Ala./Homewood) (women's volleyball) placed fourth while Matt Woodson (Timonium, Md./McDonough) (men's lacrosse), Jacy MacConvery (Lilburn, Ga./Parkview) (men's swimming), Danielle Johnson (Salisbury, Md./Parkside) (field hockey), Gabby Blazek (New Orleans, La./Louise S McGehee) (track and field), Camilla Civiello (North Yarmouth, Maine/Greely) (women's swimming), Slade Dumas (Great Falls, Va./Dominion), Rebecca Hallameyer (Freeland, Md./Herford) (women's soccer), Brandon Cohen (Redondo Beach, Calif./Redondo Union), Darby Bauer (Perkiomenville, Pa./Boyertown Area) and Mandile Mpofu (Haare, Zimbabwe/Arundel School) rounded out the field.
