Goucher Men's Basketball Player Dwayne Morton Named To The NABC Honors Court
BALTIMORE, Md. – Goucher College men's basketball 2020 graduate Dwayne Morton (Baltimore, Md./Waynesboro ([Mo.]) has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for the talent and gift he possess on the court and the hard work exhibited in the classroom.
"I'm very happy for Dwayne to receive the Honors Court Award because it recognizes his consistent commitment to academics," said head coach Tom Rose. "Along with this award and his on the court accomplishments are highlights to his career, that express his dedication as a men's basketball student-athlete at Goucher"
A psychology major, Morton was named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor this year. On the court, he joined some of the Goucher hardwood greats when he scored his 1,000th career point against Susquehanna on February 1 to become the 10th player in program history to reach the milestone and the first player in nearly 13 years. He appeared in 24 games including 23 starts and paced the team with 14.8 points per game. Morton registered 19 double-figure point games with four 20-point performances and back-to-back 30-point outputs including a career-high 37 points against Cairn on December 30. The senior also wrapped up his standout home career with 25 points to earn the win in his last game at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center on February 22.
For his career, Morton appeared in 96 games including 70 starts and finished ninth in program history with 1,119 points. He averaged 11.7 points per game in his career and registered 341 rebounds, 180 steals and 105 steals in his career. He was also selected as the 2020 Goucher Athletics Ruth Baird Thompson '31 Award winner.
To be eligible for the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 at the end of the 2019-20 academic year. Former teammate Gabe Ceribelli was selected to the honor court in the previous two campaigns.
