Sizzling Second Half Pushes Lycoming Past Gophers

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Host Lycoming College shot 58% in the second half and 51.6% for the game as it moved past Goucher College 86-72 in Landmark Conference men's basketball Saturday afternoon at Lamade Gymnasium.
- The lead changed hands three times in the early going before Goucher (5-14, 5-9 Landmark) used a 10-1 run to build an 18-9 lead after a Darrell Green three at the 10:47 mark.
- Lycoming (7-14, 3-11) countered with a 13-1 run to go up 22-19 with 7:40 on the clock.
- The Warriors went up 27-21 before five straight Gopher points made the score 27-26 four minutes before halftime on a Can Dalli three.
- The hosts double up Goucher 12-6 the rest of the half to go into intermission up 39-32.
- Jaden Workman scored on the first possession of the second half for the Gophers, but seven straight Warrior points made it 46-34 just under two minutes in.
- Goucher worked the lead down to nine, 53-44, with 14:22 left on an Onterio Miller basket.
- After Lycoming pushed the lead to 15 (61-46), a 10-2 Goucher run capped by a Brandon Joseph layup made it 63-55 just past the midway point of the period.
- A 12-3 run by the hosts made it a 17-point game, 77-60, with just over five minutes remaining on the clock.
- Lycoming went up by as many as 20 and maintained at least a 15-point cushion until the final minute.
- Jacob Morgan led Goucher with 16 points, his fifth-straight double digit scoring game and 10th in the last 11 contests. Morgan added six rebounds and three assists.
- Green was 5-11 from the floor and contributed 13 points and six rebounds. He also reached double figures for the fifth straight game.
- Joseph added 10 points, one shy of his season high, and corralled five boards.
- Workman chipped in with eight points, while Alex Miller finished with seven points and eight rebounds.
- Goucher, which outrebounded Lycoming 38-31, shot 41.4% for the game, was 5-17 from long range and 19-26 from the free throw line.
- Lycoming finished 18-31 from the floor over the final 20 minutes and 32-62 for the game, including 7-18 behind the arc. The Warriors finished 15-21 at the charity stripe.
- Goucher returns home Wednesday night when it host Elizabethtown in a critical Landmark Conference matchup at 7 pm at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- The Gophers and Blue Jays are tied for the sixth and final conference tournament spot in the Landmark standings.
