Balanced Effort Leads Gophers to First Landmark Win

TOWSON, Md. - Three players each finished with nine points as the Goucher College men's basketball team picked up its first Landmark Conference win, 71-52, over the University of Scranton Saturday afternoon at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
- Goucher (2-7, 1-3 Landmark), which never trailed, jumped out to an early 6-0 lead on threes by Jacob Morgan and Can Dalli.
- A 7-1 Scranton (3-4, 1-3) spurt pulled the Royals within one, 11-10, at the 14:55 mark.
- The Gophers responded with 11 straight points to go up 22-10 on a Jadyss Fifer three midway through the half.
- The hosts took their largest lead of the first half, 37-17, with 2:48 to go on a triple by Avree Harris.
- Goucher took a 39-23 lead into the locker room.
- Scranton opened the second half on a 12-2 run and pulled within six, 41-35, 5:48 into the half.
- Goucher countered with 14 straight points of its own to build a 55-35 lead on two free throws by Jon Perry with 9:03 on the clock.
- The Gophers took their largest lead, 63-39, with 6:15 to go on a Darrell Green basket.
- Green, Alex Miller and Jaden Workman paced the Gophers with nine points apiece.
- Green was 3-3 from the floor and 3-3 at the free throw line and grabbed six rebounds in 14 minutes off the bench.
- Miller finished 4-6 from the floor and also grabbed six rebounds, while Workman was 5-7 at the free throw line.
- Harris knocked down a pair of threes and totaled eight points.
- Morgan and Dalli registered seven points apiece, with Morgan adding five rebounds, three assists and four steals.
- Fifer and Chima Egeonu chipped in six points apiece.
- Goucher shot 52.3% for the contest, including 61.9% (13-21) in the opening 20 minutes.
- The Gophers were 5-16 from three and 20-30 at the free throw line while outrebounding the Royals 42-31.
- Scranton was limited to 29.5% shooting for the contest, including 3-16 behind the arc and 13-21 at the charity stripe.
- Goucher has now won three straight against Scranton after going 1-29 in the series' first 30 meetings.
- After pausing for finals, Goucher returns to action Sunday, December 15, hosting Stevenson in a 2 pm non-conference game at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
