Mustangs Take Wire-to-Wire Win over Gophers

TOWSON, Md. - Visiting Stevenson University never trailed as it posted a 96-47 non-conference men's basketball victory over Goucher College at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center Sunday afternoon.
- Goucher, which surrendered the game's first four points, pulled within 10-8 on a three by Avree Harris at the 14:24 mark.
- Stevenson (5-2) built a 14-8 lead just under eight minutes into the contest.
- An 18-4 Mustang run over the Gophers increased the lead to 20, 32-12, at the 6:28 mark.
- The guests took their largest lead, 40-14, with 3:30 left and went into intermission up 46-21.
- Stevenson opened the second half on a 9-3 run to up its lead to 55-24 2:28 into the second half.
- The Gophers cut the lead to 26 three times, the last on two free throws by Can Dalli with 14:28 remaining that made it 57-31.
- Jon Perry led Goucher with eight points while grabbing three rebounds.
- Dalli, Thomas Lewis and Jacob Morgan each chipped in with five points.
- Stevenson, which outrebounded Goucher 50-24, shot 59.5% in the second half and 52.6% for the game while going 8-21 behind the arc and 6-8 at the free throw line.
- The Gophers shot 34% overall, were 5-24 from distance, and 8-15 at the charity stripe.
- The Mustangs forced 22 Goucher turnovers which it turned into 29 points.
- Goucher remains at home Wednesday afternoon, welcoming Hood to the Decker Sports and Recreation Center for a 2 pm non-conference contest.
