Gophers Falter to the Cardinals After Close First Half

Towson, Md.- Gophers (4-20 overall,3-14 Landmark) fall short in a tight game agaist the Cardinals of Catholic University of America (20-4 overall,15-2 Landmark). Both teams had a neck-and-neck first half that the Cardinals came out on top of by one point. After a hard fought second half the Cardinals keep their lead to win the game 78-61.

• Gophers start the scoring with three consecutive 3-point shots by Darrell Green and Darnell Morris Jr. 
• Cardinals tie the game with (8:18) left in the half. 
• Goucher responds to the Cardinal lead with a dunk by Alex Miller. 
• Catholic scores three consecutive goals capturing the lead 38-37 going into halftime. 

• Catholic begins the scoring of the half.
• Jayden Saunders ends the three and a half minute scoring stalemate with (12:26) remaining. 
• Gophers chip at the Cardinals lead with a 3-pointer from John Dixon at (9:24).
• Jon Perry scores at the end of the half for the Gophers bringing the final score to 78-61. 

• Morris Jr. was the lead scorer for the Gophers with 21 points and three rebounds. 
• Green was the second highest scorer with 11 points and two assists. 
• Gophers shot 38.5% overall, they went 9-27 beyond the arc. They were 66.7% from the free throw line. 
• Goucher forced six turnovers resulting in seven points. They completed 33 rebounds. 
• Cardinals shot 47.4% overall, they went 4-17 beyond the arc. They were 76.9% from the free throw line.
• Catholic forced 14 turnovers resulting in 22 points,. They completed 37 rebounds. 

• The Gophers will be taking on Wilkes, at home, in their last conference game. It will be on Saturday at 4pm in the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
