Bio

Coach Ralph Burley has been an integral part of the basketball culture throughout the East Coast for the past forty years.  He coached some of the top recreation leagues, summer leagues, and AAU teams in the Baltimore/Washington DC area.

In 1995 he began his high school coaching career at Severn High School in Severna Park, Maryland. Coach Burley was appointed as the Head Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.  His skills and training were an asset to the Severn Basketball Program and contributed to the success and performance of the team at two MIAA “B” Conference Championships.

In 1996 he was hired at Archbishop Spalding High School as an Assistant Varsity Coach, and in 2000 became the Head Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Coach.  During that time he helped lead the team to three MIAA “A” Conference Championships, two Baltimore Catholic League Championships, four BCL Tournament Championship Appearances, and three BCL I MIAA “A” Regular Season Championships.

In 2007 Coach Burley joined the Goucher College Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff. In 2009 Coach Burley was promoted to Recruiting Coordinator for the Men’s Basketball program, where he has been responsible for the recruitment and fundamental development of the Gopher players for the last nine years. 

Throughout his career Coach Burley has served as an excellent role model for student-athletes and has been a part of countless achievements.  He earned an AA degree in 2007 and plans to further his education. Coach Burley and his wife Deserie have two adult children and three grandchildren.
