GREENSBORO, N.C. - As the Goucher College men's golf team was getting set to complete their first ever round of competition in an NCAA Championship, mother nature had other plans, as the First Round of the 2018 Division III Championship was halted Tuesday afternoon with several teams still on the course due to severe weather in the area.
With Goucher's last player on the 18th hole at the Grandover Resort East Course, the Gophers had posted a score of +23 as a team, which put them in 35h place by themselves entering the end of their first round.
To the point in the round when play was stopped, first-year Evan Yue (Beijing, China) had posted the low score of the day for the Gophers, as he sat at +3 entering 15. Fellow first-year Roberto Mikse (Fort Worth, Texas) was just behind Yue on 14, coming in at +4 when play was stopped.
The First Round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship will now be completed on Wednesday morning beginning at 8 a.m. The Gophers will then have a quick turnaround for Round Two, which will now start at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start.
Live stats throughout competition tomorrow will be posted via GolfStat here.
