Gonzalez Finishes in a Tie for Second, as Men's Golf Places Sixth at Mason-Dixon Classic
ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. - First-year Julian Gonzalez (Heredia, Costa Rica) of the Goucher College men's golf team finished in a tie for second overall. as the Gophers placed sixth as a team at the Mason-Dixon Collegiate Classic which was contested over the last two days at The Bridges Golf Club.

As a team, Goucher finished with a two-day combined score of 612 (303-309) to finish in sixth place alone (out of 17 other teams). St. John Fisher won the team title in the event, edging Christopher Newport by two shots with a combined score of 598.
Individually, Gonzalez was once again impressive on a weekend for the Gophers.
On Saturday, he started the weekend firing a three-under-par 69 to take a lead into Sunday's final round. There, Gonzalez carded a 75 to finish with a combined score of even par (144) and finish in a tie for second with Christian Early of Dennison. Both finished just one shot back of the individual champion Shawn MacBurnie, who fired a 69 on Sunday to edge Gonzalez (one-under, 143).
Elsewhere for the Gophers, sophomore Evan Yue (Beijing, China) finished in a tie for 13th with a combined score of 151 (75-76), while fellow sophomore Roberto Mikse (Fort Worth, Texas) rounded out the top finishers on the weekend for Goucher placing in a tie for 33rd with a score of 155 (77-78).
The Goucher College men's golf team returns to action on Saturday as they take part in the Revolutionary Collegiate Classic at Patriots Glen Golf Club in Elkton, Md. The tournament concludes next Sunday.
