Goucher Men's Golf Selected As Landmark Conference Preseason Favorite
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Goucher College men's golf team has been tabbed as the preseason favorite in the Landmark Conference Preseason Coaches Poll announced on Thursday.
The Gophers nabbed six of the eight first-place votes to be picked first with 62 points. Scranton and Drew each received a first-place nod and finished second (52) and third (47) in the poll respectively. Catholic (35), Moravian (32), Susquehanna (20), Elizabethtown (14) and Juniata (10) rounded out the poll.
Goucher return four all-conference performers from last year's championship team. Roberto Mikse (Fort Worth, Texas/Jim McClean Junior Academy) and Steph Lee (Manalapan, N.J./Saint John Vianney) were named to the First Team, while Evan Yue (Beijing, China/IMG Academy) and Joe Burns (Kinnelon, N.J./Kinnelon) were honored on the Second Team. In addition, freshman Julian Gonzalez (Heredia, Costa Rica/Berkeley Academy) was named the conference athlete of the week three times in the fall.
The Gophers return to the links at the Pfeiffer Invitational on Mar. 4-5.
