Gonzalez Sits In Top-10 To Pace Goucher Men's Golf After One Round At Pfeiffer Invitational
HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Julian Gonzalez (Heredia, Costa Rica/Berkeley Academy) sits in ninth place to lead the Goucher College men's golf team to a fifth-place standing after the first day of the Pfeiffer Invitational on Monday.
Gonzalez shot a 77 for a five-over par round to sit in ninth place, six strokes behind the current leader. The freshman paced the team in the fall with four Top-5 finishes including two victories.
Roberto Mikse (Fort Worth, Texas/Jim McClean Junior Academy) (12th place, 79), Nick Fisher (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) (18th place, 81), Steph Lee (Manalapan, N.J./Saint John Vianney) (18th place, 81) and Evan Yue (Bejiing, China/IMG Academy) (18th place, 81) also competed for the Gophers in the first event of the spring for the team.
Mars Hill leads the field with a 292, 18 strokes ahead of Baldwin Wallace (310) while Bridgewater (312), Adrian (316) and Goucher (318) round out the Top-5 teams in the tournament.
Goucher returns to action on Tuesday in the final round of the Pfeiffer Invitational.
