Yue Leads Goucher Men's Golf At Towson Invitational
GRAYSONVILLE, Md. – Evan Yue (Bejing, China/IMG Academy) finished as the Goucher College top finisher and had a better finish and score than 48 golfers that compete at the NCAA Division I or II level to pace the Gophers men's golf team to a 16th-place standing at the Towson Invitational on Sunday. Goucher was the only NCAA Division III team in a field of 16.
Yue posted a 79 in the first round and a four-over par 75 in the second round to finish in 40th place with a two-round score of 154, 15 strokes behind the medalist. He was the Gophers top golfer for the first time this season thanks to posting birdies on the first and fifth hole while recording pars on 11 holes on the afternoon.
Julian Gonzalez (Heredia, Costa Rica/Berkeley School) (46th place, 155), Roberto Mikse (Fort Worth, Texas/Jim McClean Junior Academy) (84th place, 163), Steph Lee (Manalapan, N.J./Saint John Vianney) (87th place, 166) and Nicholas Fisher (Fishers, Ind./Fishers) (88th place, 167) rounded out the Gophers competitors. Gonzalez recorded birdies on the third and 15th holes, and Mikse had a birdie on 11.
Youngstown State, Towson and Sacred Heart finished tied for the team title with a score of 588 while LIU Brooklyn (597) and Canisius College (597) finished tied for fourth. Goucher College finished 16 out of 17 teams in NCAA Division I or II after tallying a 326 in the first round and a 308 in the second round for a two-round score of 634.
The Gophers return to action when they host the Goucher Spring Invitational starting on Sunday.
